BUY BETTER, LIVE WITH IT FOREVER

EQ3 was born in opposition to the growing trend of fast furniture, vowing instead to create timeless designs made for this generation and the next.

We want to change the way furniture is made and bought, extending the lifespan of every product and limiting waste in every stage of our production.

CIRCULAR DESIGN

Our designs are made with longevity in mind, with many decades-spanning collections in our product library. Our mission is to give our community collections that grow with their families and their square footage, from first home to forever home.

We work to keep our designs in circulation and out of landfills. Finding second homes when possible for open-box returns, floor models, or gently-used pieces through our outlet stores.

SMART PACKAGING

We are committed to approaching the issue of sustainable packaging with the same creativity and ingenuity as we do our designs. As of April 2023 we began the process of transitioning to more environmentally friendly packaging, implementing substantial changes like replacing plastic bubble wrap with recyclable honeycomb kraft paper and FSC-certified compostable bubble wrap, and replacing styrofoam with FSC-certified honeycomb planks and moulded fibre corner guards.

Further details on how EQ3 will make this change are to come. Look for a PS recycling drop-off center in your community if interested in recycling.

LOCAL MANUFACTURING

Our corporate headquarters, R&D, and upholstery manufacturing facilities are all located in Winnipeg, Canada. This allows us to ensure quality from first sketch to final stitch. We work with local wood suppliers, located down the street from our HQ for solid wood table tops for our Kendall, Mesa, and Arc collections. Our Bon table and Custom occasional table granite tops are manufactured in Quebec. Our fabric is cut and sewn in our Mexico manufacturing plant, owned and operated by Palliser Furniture Group. By keeping a lot of our production close to home, we reduce our carbon footprint, contributing to fewer emissions related to travel.

MADE-TO-ORDER MODEL

Our custom upholstery is made to order. Meaning we use exactly the amount of materials we need—no more and no less—and can focus on building quality pieces built to last, one at a time. We design our best-selling upholstery collections in low quantities to allow for shorter lead times through our locally-stocked and Ready-to-Ship programs. These small batches are reviewed multiple times throughout the year to ensure we are only manufacturing products that are in immediate demand.

SUSTAINABLE FINISHES & ADHESIVES

We've created our own environmentally sensitive water-based finish within our manufacturing plant in Indonesia. This finish releases 95% fewer hazardous emissions during production and does not contain harmful petroleum products, contributing to greatly improved indoor air quality and a healthier work environment. Our innovative environmentally sensitive water-based finish is featured on the following collections:

  • Marcel, Monarch, Stadium, Stage, Pi Shelving, Essential, Homework, Boom, Reclaimed Teak + Stools, Replay Case, Plank, Cello Shelving, Kendal Oak/Walnut Veneer, Hallie folding table.

All of our Upholstery adhesives are water-based, which are safer for the environment and for our employees. We do not use flame retardants in fabrics, plastics, foam or electronics.

ETHICAL SOURCING

We work closely with our suppliers to ensure we share the same vision for innovative environmental solutions:

  • Our suppliers must agree to ethical treatment of animals. This means feathers used in cushions are not harvested from live plucking practices, and animals are not force fed.
  • Leathers used in our upholstery covers are a byproduct of the food industry and are not bred for their hides. EQ3 leather partners are all LWG certified by the International Leather Working Group (LWG).
  • We source ethically grown and harvested wood in accordance with USDA Lacey Act.
  • Unused raw materials are recycled and repurposed. Excess wood is chipped down, foam is reused for carpet underlay padding and other products, and fiber wrap is sent back to the supplier.

MATERIAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Our Lana Grade 60 fabric is made from 5% recycled wool leftover from the garment industry.
  • Our Ola fabric is GRS [Global Recycled Standards] Certified and OEKOTEX [OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100] Certified, with a manufacturing process that creates very little waste.
  • The wood from our reclaimed teak collection is salvaged from the Java region of Indonesia, made from salvaged tree trunks using the discarded remnants left from abandoned buildings and deforestation.

TECHNICIAN PROGRAM

We take pride in extending the lifespan of all EQ3 upholstery, and our technician program, available where most showrooms are located, provides reupholstery and repair services to EQ3 designs under select circumstances. Please reach out to our Customer Care team for assistance in maintaining your upholstery piece; Our team can provide information on aftercare and on how our Technician program works. If applicable, our team will send a Technician to assess the piece and determine what services can be provided. Not all pieces can be recovered, but we will do our best to help. Charges outside of warranty will apply.

SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

It's important to us that our workforce has the space, ability and support needed to engage, evolve, and live healthy lives. We support fair wages and positive working conditions for all, as well as additional support that promotes quality of life through comprehensive benefits, and other programs focused on mental and physical health.

EQ3 is committed to ensuring that forced labour and child labour are not used in its supply chains. Our proactive approach to supplier assessment and ongoing monitoring aims to prevent such risks from arising and ensures that our supply chain remains free from such unethical practices.
