Slope Chair

The Marcel Bedroom Collection

One bed.
A whole bedroom.

A complete family in oak or walnut — four beds, dressers, chest, nightstands, media units and a desk, all drawn from the same trestle base and solid-wood handle.

Finishes

Two finishes, one family.

The finish that keeps the room bright.

Light oak has an open, long-running grain that takes whatever the window gives it. In morning light it reads almost blond; by evening it has warmed a full shade. It is the finish to choose when you want the bedroom to feel airy and the furniture to sit with the walls rather than in front of them — a full family of pieces in oak still leaves a small room feeling like it has space to spare.

Warm, open grain. The lighter of the two.

The one people reach out and touch.

Walnut is chocolate through the middle and amber where the grain turns, and it is never twice the same. Set a dresser beside its nightstand and they read as relatives rather than twins — that variation is the point, not a flaw. It is the richer of the two in low light, and it goes on deepening for as long as you own it.

Deep and variable — no two pieces match exactly.

Designer

“Marcel is about letting the wood do the talking. The trestle base lifts everything off the floor, so a full bedroom of furniture still reads as light.”

Matthew Kroeker

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Marcel takes its cues from mid-century casework and strips them back: a trestle base, a solid oak or walnut handle, and a veneer chosen for grain rather than uniformity. Because every piece in the family shares that vocabulary, a room can be built one piece at a time over years and still hold together.
